The taste of the American plum fruit is usually very good for a seed grown plum tree. Compared to cultivated plums, American plums have good disease resistance. They form thickets by sending up root suckers all around the mother tree. These suckers can be mowed to maintain a single trunk tree. American plums are also used as rootstock for grafting other plum varieties. They grow very fast and can be excellent for wildlife as they produce a lot of fruit and create habitat with their thicket form. The American Plums we have for sale are seed grown.
