Many other trees and shrubs offer support to food-producing systems or have unique uses of their own. This page contains the trees, shrubs, and vines we have for sale that are more difficult to functionally categorize. One theme with these plants is repairing damaged soil. They all thrive in less than perfect conditions, and black locust and Siberian pea shrub, for example, fix nitrogen to the soil. As well, black locust provides edible flowers for a week or so in early summer, and is a premier construction lumber, as it is extremely rot-resistant. And of course, wild grapes will yield fruit much like their domesticated variant.
